Fido’s work-process includes a multilayered approach to continuous tracking of work, feedback to clients and end-users, and system documentation.

Ticketing System

Each end-user has the ability create and track their own problem tickets. Managers can track tickets for the whole organization.  Tickets are easily created by phone, email or web portal.  Fixes are scrupulously documented and emailed to the user. Each ticket and all tickets are text-searchable. By this means we are continuously building data on each client’s problem and solution experience, which remains available for reference at all times. Tickets are kept for seven years even after being closed.

Monthly reporting

Fido also issues monthly service reports to principals. The report summarizes organization-wide ticketing activity and also provides unique charting of the IT inventory including the disk utilization and age of each computer. A sample Service Report can be provided at upon request.

Rescue Network Device Insurance

Guardian™ subscribers enjoy coverage under Fido’s Rescue™ program at no extra charge. Rescue™ is insurance for labor to fix any eligible server or workstation covered in the Guardian™ program. If it breaks, the labor to fix it is covered.

System Documentation

Fido maintains documentation in a proprietary and secured client database which houses all relevant information about a client’s infrastructure. Captured in this database is information about servers and other devices as well as contact information for critical vendors such as ISPs and software publishers. All of this data can be produced back to the client in organized document at a moment’s notice.

Cloud

What is the cloud?  Substitute the word “Internet” and you pretty much have it.  So its just that simple?  Actually no. 

But here’s the deal; the old way of doing things is quickly receding.  On premises servers are disappearing, as are applications that you install on your computer.  Those two pieces used to be inseparable: “Client-Server” applications is what we called them.  An application was installed on your computer, and its server component resided on your in-house server.  All the shared data was kept on the server which managed its access and flow to the installed applications. That model, if not dead, is in steep decline.

These days, the bulk of effort and ingenuity for developing new productivity tools is focused on web-based applications.  These applications most likely run inside a browser like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, or sit on top of the browser as a browser extension.  The servers are no longer something you own, they are in the cloud, hosted in a data-center along with most of your data. 

This means less investment in expensive hardware, and it also can mean reduced risk of major failures.  It also means the landscape for maintaining control of all of your information, your user’s, and their access to tools and data is far broader and more complex.
